Between 2001 and 2016, Jean-Marie Lassausse, a Mission de France priest and agronomist, was commissioned by the Archbishop of Algiers to tend to the crops of the Atlas Abbey in Tibhirine, Algeria, after the assassination of its monks in 1996. Along with his co-author, Christophe Henning, he received the 2011 Prix de littérature religieuse for his first book “Le jardinier de Tibhirine”.
