Anna Gavalda was born in Boulogne in 1970. In 1992, she won the Livre Inter prize for La plus belle lettre d'amour. A French teacher in Voisenon (Seine-et-Marne), she won the Grand Prix RTL-Lire in 2000 for her first collection of short stories entitled Je voudrais que quelqu'un m'attende quelque part (Le Dilettante). Je l'aimais and Ensemble c'est tout soon followed, and the total sales of her three books reached almost 6 million! She has two children and lives in Melun.
