When she arrives at Baba’s house, which sits between two enormous hen’s claws, the little girl runs away because the witch plans to eat her. Anouska is helped by a servant, a cat and a birch tree. She gives each one some of the food her aunt gave to thank them. When the witch discovers she’s gone, she flies into a rage and immediately runs after Anouska.
